Maria was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1951. She is a certificated Gem expert and has attended various pastry courses in San Francisco. She has started making great cakes by combining her pastry dressing education with the recipes she has taken from her mother. She decided to move to Istanbul after visiting on holiday with her husband Ron. She began by making cheesecakes for a friend who owned a coffee shop in Kadikoy. That friend sold her coffee shop and Maria decided to open her own small shop in Cavusbasi where she lives with her family.
She opened in 2006 with the aim of helping women in the village by employing them and teaching them business skills. Maria found good success in her small shop and needed to expand as business was growing beyond her capacity. She moved down the street to a larger store in November 2008.
Maria is happy to give service to her customers who come from all over Istanbul, as far away as Yesikoy and Tuzla to taste her delicious cakes. Customers are happy to sit and enjoy a Cappuccino or buy a cake as a gift to family or friends.
Maria's Cheesecakes have been delighting the community of Istanbul since 2006 with handmade cheesecakes, brownies, Quiches, cookies in Cavusbasi, Atasehir, Kozyatagi and Cekmeköy.
All the cheesecakes have unique designs and do not include any additives. Sauces are daily prepared from fresh fruits. We bring you different tastes from different locations all over the world combined with our love. Lemon, berry, chocolate flavored cheesecakes in addition to Boston, California, New York and Belgium varieties and now with the latest addition; the special ISTANBUL cheesecake, turn Maria’s love for Istanbul into a delicacy. Ingredients used in Maria’s Cheesecakes is grown in her own garden and used in the most fresh form.
Some of the industrial ingredients are exported from U.S.A. and some of them is specially produced in Turkey according to their original recipes.
Production area is prepared according to the conditions that Ministry of Health demands and approval for all cerficates that should be taken accordingly, is taken.
Apart from the professional activities, Maria’s Cheesecake appears in the social responsibility projects of some certian organizations. In the light of this understanding, she raises the female workers in her kitchen as a cheesecake specialist to bring them in a new job.
